Stockholm
The royal castle:
Official residence of the king. Treasury and amory, as well as the coin cabinet as worth seeing. At midday you can witness the guards changing. Largely unknown is the small, but lovely palace garden.
Kungsträdgarden:
This park is a central meeting point for old and young. It is really worth to rest in one of the Cafes and to just relax and absorb the atmosphere. There is always some commotion in the Kungsträdgarden. During the summer months you can settle close to the water, in winter you can go ice skating here.
Skansen (Open-air museum and zoological garden):
This combination of open-air museum and zoological garden was founded 1891 in Djurgrden, in order to preserve Sweden’s rural culture and is the first of its kind. It comprises around 160 historical wooden houses and barnyards from all over Sweden. The barnyard still house cattle, traditional races and fostered by farmers in traditional clothing. Domestic animals as well as exotic ones are also held in the zoo and the aquarium. Owing to the zoo and the playgrounds Skansen is especially popular among families.
Stadshuset / City hall:
The building crowned most beautiful of the whole country by the Swedish was built in 1911 by Ragnar Östberg with an appearance that can be attributed to the Art Nouveau. The building houses impressive chambers of the municipality, among others the golden hall with its glass and gold mosaics. Standing on the big tower you have a wonderful panoramic view across the capital of Sweden. The blue hall of the building is venue of the noble price banquet. Unfortunately the city hall can only be visited during one of the few tours, the tower is however accessible at the entirety of the opening hours.
