Stockholm

“Venice of the north“or simply “City on water”, Sweden’s capital has several synonyms. But whatever name you are choosing, it will only depict part of this wonderful northern city. It does not matter whether you visit Stockholm during summer witnessing the incredibly long and bright summer nights or if you plan a trip in winter: A stay in Stockholm is at all time worth the time and money.

In former times the city’s only resemblance was Gamla Stan (gamla = old), which is today known as the Old Town of the city. Today Stockholm is spread across fourteen different isles, connected through more than 50 bridges allowing wonderful views up to the horizon. One third of the whole city territory is basically water; another third resembles parks and natural surroundings. The water quality is remarkable: In which urban center can you have a bath or go fishing for salmons without spending a thought about the water’s cleanliness?
