Stockholm

The wonderfully restored medieval island Gamla Stan is very precious: Small narrowly constructed mews, souvenir and antiques shops, but especially the royal castle, the impressive cathedral Storkyrkan and the Riddarhusel (former knights’ mansion), one of the most beautiful buildings of the entire metropole.

The area known as the core or city centre (Norrmalm) was only settled in the middle of the 18th century, by noble people who used to build their houses and palaces over there. Today the city centre can be considered the financial and economical focal point of Stockholm, with several malls and exclusive boutiques located in the streets around the Biblioteksgatan, in the district of Östermalm. Over here you will find all kinds of fashion brands next to several Swedish designer labels, plus spacious green corridors and, of course, plenty of water all around with enhanced shipping activity.

Another district, Södermalm, a former working-class neighborhood with low residential rents offers a wonderful sight over the whole city and is the haven for artists and young people today. It has only in the last years developed to one of the hippest districts in the capital of Scandinavia. Many one of a kind locations including bars, cafes, second-hand and designer-shops shape the multicultural appearance of this extraordinary part of the city.

Djurgarden ist he former royal hunting ground and resembles the green oasis of Stockholm. Locals use to spend part of their leisure time right here in the centre which also accommodates some infamous sights like the Vasa-Museum or the open-air museum Skansen.
