Athens

Plaka

The Old Town of Athens just northern of the famous Acropolis. Narrow alleys, many tourists, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants are representative for this part of the city. It appears to be somewhat unorganized and hectic over here, with brothels every now and then, but it still an interesting area every tourist should visit at least once.

Ermou

The pedestrian area equipped with all kinds of famous and fashionable stores one can find all over Europe as well. Commences at the lower end of the Syntagma place and extends up to Monastiraki in the west of Athens. Parallel you can find Mitropoleos, a place accommodating many small stores, most often somewhat cheaper and more ordinary.

Kolonaki

Heading to the east down the Vassilissis Sofias Street from the Syntagma place and in the north of the legislative building you can find Kolonaki, a very fancy area, where there are many embassies and similar institutions. Especially the large number of boutiques and designer stores north of the Sofia Street contribute to the fashionable appearance of this borough. Close by one can find the Likavito hill, a perfect place to enjoy the panoramic view over the Greek capital.
