Amsterdam
It is also really nice to walk through the city, especially a visit of the Kalverstraat, the main shopping venue accommodating all kinds of famous stores and brands.
The street which is a precinct in its full length is interrupted in its middle by the Dam, the most central and huge place of Amsterdam.
There are several green corridors like the Vondelpark, where it is a pleasure to rest during sunny days and seemingly half the city does so.
The nicest cafes and stores are located somewhat outside the city centre towards the west in district Jordaan and the 9 Straatjes (small streets) between Heren- and Singelgracht (canals).
The Pieter Cornelisz Hoofstraat in the south is the Mecca for lovers of Haute Couture. In the east of this venue is the student and artist district called Pijp with numerous smaller cafes, pubs and the biggest market of Amsterdam. The centre of young Amsterdam nightlife can be found in the south-east on the Leidseplein: many street cafes (terraces are always packed until the early morning hours during summer and spring), bars and clubs.
Another hip district is relatively young Piet Heinkade, eastern to the Centraal Station where you can find noble restaurant and clubs, often very close to the water.
